The unopened flowers of Pueraria lobata (Willd.) Ohwi or Pueraria thomsonii Benth.
【Characteristics】
The flower buds are irregularly oblong-oval or slightly kidney-shaped, 5-15mm long, 2-6mm wide, and 2-3mm thick. The sepals are gray-green, fused at the base, with 5-toothed tips; the lobes are lanceolate, with two teeth fused together, and the surface is densely covered with yellowish-white villous hairs. There are two lanceolate-subulate bracts at the base. There are 5 petals of equal length, protruding beyond the calyx or enclosed by the calyx, blue-purple, with the outer color lighter, appearing light purple or light brown. There are 10 stamens, of which 9 are fused. The pistil is slender, slightly curved, and covered with hairs on the outside. It has a faint odor and a bland taste.
