It is the stem bark or root bark of the shrub *Hibiscus syriacus* L. of the Malvaceae family.
n 【Characteristics】n
The dried stem bark or root bark is semi-cylindrical or cylindrical, 15-25cm long, with inconsistent width and thickness, usually 0.7-1cm wide and about 2mm thick. The outer bark is rough, earthy gray, with longitudinal wrinkles and transverse small protrusions (lenticels); the inner surface is light yellowish-green, showing obvious filamentous fibers. Not easily broken, the texture is light and spongy. It has a weak odor and a bland taste.
