 【Botanical Origin】

It is the branch or winged appendage of the Winged Spindle Tree, Euonymus alatus (Thunb.) Sieb., of the Celastraceae family.

 【Characteristics】

The dried branches are slender and cylindrical, often branched, about 40-50cm long and 0.4-1cm in diameter. The surface is gray-green with longitudinal wrinkles and gray-brown flaky wings on all four sides, resembling arrow feathers. The branches are hard and tough, difficult to break, with a light yellowish-white cross-section and coarse fibrous texture. The wings are light and brittle, easily broken, with a relatively flat cross-section, dark reddish-brown color, and fine granular texture. It has a slight odor and a slightly bitter and astringent taste.
