Dried mature seeds of Hydnocarpus family, Hydnocarpus anthelmintica Pierre ex Laness.

 【Appearance】

Irregularly oval or multifaceted, slightly blunt-edged, approximately 1~2.5 cm long and 1~2 cm in diameter. The outer skin is grayish-brown with fine lines, and there is a distinct groove at the smaller end. The seed coat is thick and hard, about 1.5~2 mm thick, with a smooth, light yellow inner surface. The seed kernel is separated from the coat, the kernel is in two halves, grayish-white, oily, with an embryo in the center and light-colored cotyledons.

 【Identification】

The best quality is indicated by large size, full kernels, white and moist color, and sufficient oil content. Inferior quality is indicated by the kernels being dry and yellow due to prolonged storage, resulting in oil depletion.
