The dried mature seeds of the lychee tree, Litchi chinensis Sonn., from the Sapindaceae family.

 【Characteristics】

Oblong, slightly flattened, 2~2.5cm long, 1~1.7cm in diameter. The surface is brownish-red or brownish-purple, lustrous, with a yellowish-white hilum at one end. Hard in texture. After being cut open, it has two fat cotyledons, which are grayish-yellow and also solid. It has a slight odor and a light, astringent taste.
