The dried aerial parts of Agrimonia pilosa Ledeb., family Rosaceae.
【Appearance】
Whole plant, the stem base is lignified (woody), light brownish-yellow, 50~100㎝ long, 4~6㎜ in diameter, smooth and hairless, stem nodes are obvious, sparse at the top and dense at the bottom, sometimes with residual stipules; upper stem is greenish-brown, covered with soft white hairs, leaves are grayish-green, wrinkled and curled, occasionally with flower or fruit branches, slightly scented, and slightly bitter and astringent taste.
【Identification】
Good quality is indicated by dryness, purplish-red stem, about 60㎝ long, bluish-green leaves, abundant and intact, free of dirt and impurities; second-best quality has more roots, curled stems, and broken or incomplete leaves.
