It is the resin of the Liquidambar formosana Hance, belonging to the Hamamelidaceae family.
n 【Characteristics】n
It is in irregular lumps or sub-spherical granules of varying sizes, mostly between 0.5-1cm in diameter, and a few can reach 3cm. The surface is light yellow to yellowish-brown, translucent or opaque. It is brittle and easily broken, and the fractured surface has a glassy luster. It has a clear fragrance, and the fragrance is stronger when burned. It tastes bland.
