 【Characteristics】

The spores are brownish-yellow, a fine powder of uniform consistency, light and smooth in texture. When rubbed between the fingers, they feel granular. When sprinkled on water, they float on the surface. They sink after being boiled. They can be burned in water, producing a popping sound and a flash of light.

 【Identification】

《Ben Cao Qiu Zhen》: “Wash clean, take the floating ones, dry them in the sun, the genuine ones don’t stick to the fingers when you rub them.” 《Liang Lie Jian Bie》: “When rubbed with the fingertip, the ones that sound like sandsand and do not stick to the finger are superior, the ones that stick are fake.”
The best ones are dry, fine-grained, light, free of leaves and other debris, float on the water surface, and produce sparks when burned, with no yellow muddy sand in the ash.
