Dried penis and testicles of the Northern Fur Seal (Callorhinus ursinus L.) or Harbor Seal (Phoca vitulina L.) of the Phocidae family.
【Characteristics】
Seal Penis: It is the dried penis and testicles. The penis is long and cylindrical, with a narrower end, 28~40㎝ long, and 1.5～2cm or more in diameter. It is shrunken with irregular longitudinal grooves and depressions, and has a longitudinal tendon. The exterior is yellowish-brown or yellow, mixed with brown patches. The posterior end has a long, oval, shriveled sac-like structure, about 4×3㎝, or with yellowish-brown hair. The upper end of the kidney has yellowish-brown kidney hair, which is its characteristic. There are two testicles, flat and long oval, brownish-brown, translucent, each with a slender vas deferens up to 30～50cm long connected to the end of the penis. The vas deferens is yellow, translucent, and usually coiled around the penis. The epididymis is wrinkled and attached to one side of the testicle, milky yellow.
Harbor Seal: The penis is long and cylindrical or rod-shaped, 12-16cm long and 0.6-1cm in diameter. The exterior is yellowish-brown, with irregular longitudinal grooves and depressions, with an oily luster, and a vas deferens with a thin sheet-like upper end and a slender lower end that separates into two, 15-25cm long, tough in texture. The two testicles are long and oval, date-shaped, 3-4cm long and 1-1.5cm wide. Has a fishy odor.

《Hai Yao Ben Cao》: “The best for those with a dark complexion and cold essence.” 《Zheng Lei Ben Cao》: “The true one is that which does not freeze when immersed in a bowl of water placed in a windy place in the twelfth lunar month.”
It is characterized by being straight, thick, and long, purplish-red, with yellowish-brown kidney hair at the upper end of the kidney, having complete testicles, oily and translucent, without a fishy odor; the best is without oily bone and flesh. It is second-rate if the strip is short and curved with bone, flesh, and grease (mostly stripped from the dead).
