【Botanical Origin】
The root of Hemerocallis fulva L. or Hemerocallis spp., belonging to the Liliaceae family.
【Characteristics】
It is cylindrical, slightly curved, 4-6cm long, and about 4mm in diameter. The enlarged tuberous part is spindle-shaped, 3-5cm long, and 6-8mm in diameter. The surface is grayish-yellow or earthy-yellow, with a few transverse lines and numerous longitudinal wrinkles. It is loose and light in texture, easily broken, with an uneven fracture surface, white, sometimes brownish-yellow. The cortical tissue is loose, with large fissures, the xylem is small and inconspicuous, and the medulla is usually hollow. It has a slightly fragrant odor, slightly sweet taste, and is slightly mucilaginous.

The best quality is large, full, and without residual base.
