From “Collected Treatises on Medical Formulas”: Cinnamon Twig and Fresh Ginger are acrid to moisten; Licorice and Chinese Red Date are sweet to tonify; White Peony Root is sour to astringe; Dragon Bone and Oyster Shell are涩 to secure. From “Laws of Medicine”: Uses Gui Zhi Tang to regulate the sluggish Ying and Wei; for weak and deficient pulse, add Dragon Bone and Oyster Shell to stop excessive grain discharge, blood loss, and seminal emission. This formula targets two key aspects and is truly precious. From “Notes on the Golden Chamber”: Cinnamon Twig and White Peony Root harmonize Yang and Yin; Licorice, Ginger, and Red Date harmonize the Ying and Wei of the Middle and Upper Jiao, enabling Yang to generate Yin, with the auxiliary role of Dragon Bone and Oyster Shell for calming the Kidneys and pacifying the Heart.  【Modifications】

From “Han Dian”: Remove White Peony Root and add Shu Qi Long Gu Mu Li Jiu Ni Tang (a formula to rescue from reversal). This formula is effective for reactions caused by heat in the body. Therefore, for patients with burns and scalds, internal administration can alleviate systemic symptoms as well as localized pain, exerting anti-inflammatory effects and eliminating heat reactions. It can be used when experiencing upward rebellious Qi, discomfort, headache, and nausea due to excessive warmth or bathing.
