【Therapeutic Rationale】
According to Yifang: This formula targets the Foot Taiyin, Jueyin, Chong, and Ren meridians.
(1) When the Chong and Ren meridians have abundant blood, they can nourish and stabilize the fetus. Chuanxiong, Danggui, and Shaoyao nourish blood and benefit the Chong and Ren meridians.
(2) Furthermore, during pregnancy, it is advisable to clear heat and cool blood; if blood does not move erratically, the fetus will be stable. Huangqin nourishes Yin and clears Yang (heat), while Baizhu tonifies the Spleen and dries dampness, also clearing stomach heat. (3) When the Spleen and Stomach are strong, they can transform and transport essences, producing blood to nourish the fetus, thereby preventing morning sickness and vomiting. Hence, Danxi considered Huangqin and Baizhu to be sacred herbs for stabilizing pregnancy.
