【Formula Meaning】

“Yifang”: This formula works on the Hand Tai Yin and Foot Yang Ming channels. Diseases of the head and face are all caused by the failure of clear yang to ascend, leading to turbid yin rising adversely.

(1) Angelica dahurica: Primarily affects the Hand and Foot Yang Ming channels, ascending to the head and face, opening orifices, inducing sweating, dispelling dampness, and scattering wind.

(2) Magnolia flower: Opens the nine orifices, disperses wind-heat, and can assist the clear yang in the stomach to ascend to the brain.

(3) Xanthium fruit: Disperses wind and dampness, ascends to the top of the head, and reaches the skin externally.

(4) Mint: Drains the lung, pacifies the liver, and clears the head and eyes.

(5) Scallion white: Ascends yang and unblocks qi

(6) Tea, with its bitter cold properties, descends, allowing clear yang to ascend and turbid yin to descend, thereby dispersing wind-heat and solidifying the brain fluids.
