[Analysis of the Formula]

“Medical Formulas”: This is a formula for the Hand and Foot Jue Yin meridians. (1) Raw Typha pollen: its slippery nature promotes blood circulation. (2) Excrement of flying squirrel: its dry nature dispels blood. Both can enter the Jue Yin meridian to invigorate blood and relieve pain, thus treating blood pain as if by divine intervention. “Compilation and Supplement”: This formula uses the sweet and warm nature of flying squirrel excrement, which enters the Liver and, when used raw, promotes blood circulation; Typha pollen, pungent and neutral, enters the Liver and, when used raw, breaks up blood stasis. These are combined and decocted with wine to enhance their efficacy, so as to directly remove stagnation in the Jue Yin meridian and achieve the effect of promoting the old and generating the new. “Discussions on Famous Formulas of Past and Present”: Wu Yu Xuan said: This formula uses the sweet and warm nature of flying squirrel excrement, which enters the Liver and, when used raw, promotes blood circulation; Typha pollen, sweet and neutral, enters the Liver and, when used raw, breaks up blood stasis. These are combined and decocted with wine to enhance their efficacy, so as to directly remove stagnation in the Jue Yin meridian and achieve the effect of promoting the old and generating the new. Sweetness does not harm the Spleen, and pungency can expel stasis, and without realizing it, all symptoms are removed, so much so that one can dismiss them with a laugh. “Discourse on Blood Syndromes”: Typha grows in water, its flowers are fragrant and move water. Water is qi. When water flows, qi flows. When qi stops, blood stops. Therefore, Typha pollen can stop bleeding from knife wounds; flying squirrel excrement has a warm nature and flavor, and its movement promotes blood circulation. When used together, they can greatly invigorate blood circulation.

Invigorates blood, promotes circulation, dispels stasis, dissipates accumulations, and relieves pain.

 [Indications]

Blood stasis obstructing internally, irregular menstruation, sharp lower abdominal pain, postpartum abdominal pain, failure of lochia to be discharged, painful menstruation, etc. “Medical Formulas”: Treats failure of lochia to be discharged, precordial pain, or abdominal pain due to dead blood. “Compilation and Supplement”: Treats postpartum abdominal pain and epigastric pain, as if to die, or blood obstructing the mind, leading to unconsciousness.

 [Clinical Applications]

Angina pectoris due to coronary atherosclerotic heart disease, irregular menstruation, dysmenorrhea, postpartum abdominal pain, ectopic pregnancy, etc., and abdominal and epigastric pain.

Believing in the gods of Ling Zhi (Pu Ling) is truly laughable (Shi Xiao).

It can increase the body’s tolerance to decompression and hypoxia, resist myocardial ischemia, resist atherosclerosis, lower blood lipids, lower blood pressure, calm the mind, and improve tolerance to hypoxia.
