 【Origin】

It is the dried whole insect of the hornet Vespa magnifica (Sonan), family Vespidae.

 【Characteristics】

The female insect is 30-35mm in length. The head is brown; the top of the head is raised; there are 3 ocelli arranged in a triangle; the back of the head is concave, with 2-3 rows of dark brown long hairs on the edge of the back of the head; the top of the head is smooth; the compound eyes are kidney-shaped, black-brown, with black spots on them; the labrum is brown, starfish-shaped, with rough engraved spots; the mandibles are developed, brown, with four black teeth. The antennae are linear, the scape is dark brown, and the rest is gray-black. The forehead is a triangular bulge, and the head is the same width as the chest. The tibia and tarsus of the forelegs are rust-colored and covered with shiny golden short hairs; the claws are simple. The wings are brown, the radial cell of the forewing is longer, the abdomen is smooth, and covered with extremely fine engraved lines. The abdomen is cylindrical, with a row of brown hairs on the posterior margin of each segment.
