The rhizome of Yunnan Rhizoma Paridis Paris polyphylla Smith var. yuanensis (Franch) Hand.-Mazz. or Chinese Rhizoma Paridis P. polyphylla Smith var. chinensis (Franch.) Hara, family Liliaceae.
n 【Appearance】n
The rhizome is fleshy, flat cylindrical or cylindrical, 4-7cm long, about 1cm in diameter, with a rough, brown surface, densely layered coarse ring patterns, obvious nodes with stem scars, slightly protruding nodes, close internodes, membranous scales at the top, and many fibrous roots on one side, densely covered with white villi. The texture is hard and brittle, the fracture surface is white, flat and adequately powdery, with no odor and a bitter taste.
