[Prescription Meaning]
“Yi Fang”: This is a medicine for the hand Tai Yin channel.
(1) Aristolochia Debilis: Clears heat and reduces fire.
(2) Burdock Seed: Benefits the diaphragm and liquefies phlegm.
(3) Apricot Kernel: Moistens dryness, disperses wind, descends qi, and stops cough.
(4) Ejiao: Clears the lungs, nourishes the kidneys, benefits blood, and tonifies yin. When qi flows smoothly, there is no obstruction; when fluids are replenished, saliva is generated, and when fire recedes, cough is calmed.
(5) Earth is the mother of metal, so Licorice and Japonica Rice are added to tonify the spleen and stomach. “Shan Bu”: In this formula, Ejiao is the sovereign, as it removes blockages and stasis. Apricot Kernel and Burdock Seed open the orifices. Aristolochia Debilis clears heat from the orifices. Glutinous rice tonifies the spleen mother; when qi arrives, the lungs will naturally be light and clear without obstruction.

Nourishes yin and tonifies the lungs, calms cough, and stops bleeding.
[Indications]
Deficiency of lung qi, shortness of breath in the chest, weak cough, and lack of strength in the four limbs. “Yi Fang”: Lung deficiency with fire, cough without fluid, and qi obstruction. “Shan Bu”: Lung deficiency with fire, cough without fluid, and cough with obstructed qi.
