【Botanical Origin】
The fruit of Capsicum frutescens L. Bush Redpepper, from the Solanaceae family.
【Characteristics】
Long conical or fusiform shape, pointed at the apex, slightly rounded at the base, with persistent calyx and fruit stalk. Persistent calyx green, 5-toothed. Pericarp leathery, fresh product green or red, fleshy; dried and shriveled and thin, the surface bright red or reddish-brown, shiny. Internal cavity, separated into 2 to 3 chambers by the septum, central axis placenta, each chamber has a number of yellow seeds; seeds flat, kidney-shaped or rounded, up to 5mm in diameter. Special odor, with a sneezing effect, taste spicy and burning.
