【Botanical Origin】
The dried, ripe fruit of Broussonetia papyrifera Vent. (Paper Mulberry) of the Moraceae family.
【Characteristics】
It is oblate-spheroid in shape, tapering at the top, and 1.5~2㎜ in diameter. The surface is reddish-brown, rough, and has fine longitudinal striations. One side has a concave groove, while the other side is noticeably raised, appearing as a ridge. The base has remnants of the fruit stalk. After peeling off the fruit peel, a white, oily embryo can be seen. It has a weak odor and a bland, oily taste.

It is best to choose those that are dry, light reddish-brown in color, and free of impurities and fruit shells. Yellow and moldy ones are second best.
