The dried, mature seeds of Citrus reticulata Blanco or Citrus tankan Hay.

n [Characteristics]n

Oval in shape, often with a short, beak-like projection at one end, about 7-10mm long and 5-7mm in short diameter. The outer seed coat is light yellowish-white to light grayish-white, smooth, with a ridge line on one side, brittle and easily peeled off. There are two cotyledons, yellowish-green in color. The outer seed coat is thin and tough, and the inner seed coat is membranous. The kernels are two pieces, plump and rich in oil. It has a slight oily odor and a bitter taste.
