The flower of the Cotton Rose Hibiscus, Hibiscus mutabilis L., of the Malvaceae family.
【Characteristics】
The flowers are irregularly cylindrical, with an epicalyx of 10 linear lobes. The corolla is approximately 9 cm in diameter, with 5 petals, or may be double-petaled, and are light brown to brownish-red. The petals are obovate with slightly curved edges, and the base is fused with the staminal column. There are numerous anthers located on the top of the column. There is one pistil with a 5-lobed stigma. It has a faint fragrance and a slightly pungent taste.
