【方義】

《Shan Bu》: This formula uses Pangolin Scales to break up hard masses, Gleditsia Spine to reach the affected area of toxins. Dahurian Angelica Root, Siler Root, and Aged Tangerine Peel dredge channels, regulate Qi, and relieve stagnation. Frankincense relieves pain and harmonizes blood, Myrrh breaks blood stasis and disperses lumps. Red Peony Root and Angelica Tail clear blood heat and promote circulation to break up stagnation. Assisted by Fritillaria Bulb, Honeysuckle Flower, and Licorice Root; the former dissipates phlegm and resolves stagnation, while the latter two disperse toxins and harmonize blood. Thus, it is effective in dissolving hard masses and relieving pain.

 【功能】

Clears heat and detoxifies, reduces swelling and breaks up hard masses, invigorates blood and relieves pain.

 【效用】

Initial stages of sores and carbuncles with swelling and toxicity, accumulation of heat-toxin, Qi stagnation and blood stasis, local redness, swelling, heat, and pain, belonging to a Yang pattern. Or, fever with slight aversion to cold, thin white or slightly yellow tongue coating, rapid and forceful pulse. 《Shan Bu》 states: For all kinds of sores and carbuncles, those not yet suppurated will resolve internally, and those already suppurated will quickly discharge pus. It is also a miraculous medicine for pain relief and detoxification.

 【適應症】

All types of carbuncles and boils, tumors, mastitis, intestinal carbuncles, furuncles, smallpox boils, smallpox toxins; peptic ulcers, breast inflammation, suppurative tonsillitis, rhinitis, chronic cervicitis, etc.

 【趣記】

<Invigorating Blood & Dispelling Stasis>: Red Sister Myrrh Wears Angelica Tail (Red Peony Root, Frankincense, Myrrh, Pangolin Scales, Angelica Tail)
<Clearing Heat & Detoxifying>: Daily Flower Honeysuckle Treasure (Trichosanthes Root, Honeysuckle Flower, Fritillaria Bulb).
<Other>: White Dry Siler Gleditsia Aged Tangerine (Dahurian Angelica Root, Licorice Root section, Siler Root, Gleditsia Spine, Aged Tangerine Peel).

 【增減】

(1) If lung system disorders with cough, add Stemona Root, Aster, Peucedanum Root, and Ephedra to disseminate lung qi, stop cough, and resolve phlegm.
(2) If urinary system disorders, add Akebia Stem and Alisma Rhizome to lightly drain dampness.
(3) If pale tongue or deficiency pattern, add Astragalus Root to tonify qi and support the exterior.
(4) If constipation, add Rhubarb to purge heat and unblock bowels.
(5) If severe redness, swelling, pain, and heat toxin, remove Angelica Tail, Dahurian Angelica Root, Aged Tangerine Peel, and add Forsythia Fruit, Dandelion, Chrysanthemum Flower, Viola Herb, etc., to enhance the effects of clearing heat and detoxifying.
(6) If thick and greasy tongue coating, easy nausea, and pain is not severe, remove Frankincense and Myrrh.
(7) If swelling and toxicity are stiff, red, and not easily dispersed, add Stiff Silkworm, Viola Herb, and Zedoary to strengthen the effects of clearing heat, detoxifying, and reducing swelling.
(8) If pus has formed, remove Frankincense, Myrrh, Gleditsia Spine, prepared Pangolin Scales, and add Coix Seed, Patrinia Herb to clear heat, detoxify, and discharge pus.
(9) If accompanied by deficiency of both Qi and Yin, add Glehnia Root and Astragalus Root to tonify both Qi and Yin.

Has antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, immune-enhancing, and analgesic effects, etc.
