【Formula Principles】

“Yi Fang” (Medical Formulas): Medicines for the Foot Yangming and Jueyin channels. (1) Honeysuckle Flower: Disperses heat and detoxifies, a sacred herb for carbuncles and boils, thus serving as the Chief. (2) Trichosanthes Root: Clears phlegm and reduces fire. (3) Dahurian Angelica Root: Dispels dampness and expels wind, also promotes pus discharge and reduces swelling. (4) Chinese Angelica Root: Harmonizes yin and invigorates blood. (5) Dried Tangerine Peel: Dries dampness and regulates qi. (6) Siler Root: Drains Lung Qi and soothes Liver Qi. (7) Fritillaria Bulb: Resolves phlegm and disperses nodules. (8) Licorice Root: Detoxifies and harmonizes the middle jiao, thus serving as the Deputy. (9) Frankincense: Regulates qi, supports the interior and protects the heart. (10) Myrrh: Dispels stasis, reduces swelling and pain, thus serving as the Assistant. (11) Pangolin Scales: Capable of penetrating and dispersing. (12) Gleditsia Spine: Acrid, dispersing, and sharp; both are essential medicines for the Jueyin and Yangming channels, capable of penetrating meridians, directly reaching the affected area, breaking up masses and dissolving hard lumps, thus serving as the Envoy. (13) Adding alcohol: Intended to promote circulation throughout the body, ensuring all pathogenic factors are dispelled.

 【Functions】

Clears heat and detoxifies, reduces swelling and breaks up hard masses, invigorates blood and relieves pain.

 【Indications】

Initial stages of sores, carbuncles, and toxic swellings, characterized by local redness, swelling, heat, and pain; carbuncles, tumors, boils on the back, furuncles, smallpox-like sores; or fever with aversion to cold. “Yi Fang”: For all initial carbuncles and toxic swellings that have not yet resolved.

 【Precautions】

“Yi Fang”: If the toxicity is in the upper body, take on a full stomach; if in the lower body, take on an empty stomach. Those who enjoy drinking may consume more alcohol to enhance the medicinal effect. Avoid sour foods and iron utensils.
