【Botanical Origin】

Heartwood of the stem of the Rutaceae plant Jiang Zhen Xiang Acronychia pedunculata (L.) Miquel.

【Characteristics】

The dried heartwood of the root is in the form of strips and blocks, of varying lengths and thicknesses, some roughly 1-2 cm thick. The surface is reddish-brown to brownish-purple, with knife marks from planing and shallow longitudinal lines. The texture is hard and heavy, sinking in water and not easily broken. The aroma is faint and slightly bitter. When burned, the aroma is strong.
Prepared slices are thin shavings or fragments, mostly curled, of varying sizes, about 0.5-2 mm thick. The surface is reddish-brown or purplish-brown, with fine smooth wrinkles and a relatively smooth texture. The texture is hard and heavy, sinking in water. It has a slight fragrance. When ignited, the fragrance is strong, oil exudes, and white ash remains after burning. The taste is slightly bitter.
