 【Origin】

Jin Qian Bai Hua She (Small White-Banded Krait) is the dried body, with the internal organs removed, of the young snake of the Cobra family, *Bungarus multicinctus* Blyth. The Bai Hua She mentioned in Materia Medica refers to Qi Snake (蘄蛇).

 【Characteristics】

The dried body is very small, also rolled into a disc shape, with the head in the center and the tail thin and tucked into the mouth. The disc diameter is about 3.5cm for young snakes and about 9cm for adult snakes. The snake body diameter is only about 4mm for young snakes and about 1cm for adult snakes. The back is dark brown, glossy, with many white rings, and a prominent protruding spinal ridge. The abdomen is yellowish-white. The odor is slightly fishy.

《Zheng Lei Ben Cao (證類本草)》: “The ones with white flowers are good,” “Also, the ones with non-sunken eyes are genuine.”
《Ben Cao Qiu Zhen (本草求真)》: “The ones with thin tails that can pass through coins are the best,” “The ones weighing seven qian to one liang are superior.”
《Yan Fang Xin Bian (驗方新編)》: “Qi Snake (the smaller ones are better).”
It is best if it is coiled up like the size of a Jin Qian coin, with the head and tail complete, and the color bright.
