【Botanical Origin】
The dried, ripe seeds of Raphanus sativus L. (radish) of the Brassicaceae family.
【Characteristics】
The seeds are oval or nearly oval, slightly flattened, and slightly angled. They are approximately 3 mm long and 2.5 mm wide. The surface is reddish-brown and smooth, with several longitudinal grooves on one side. One end has a hilum, which is a brown, circular, protruding dot. The texture is hard. When broken open, yellow-white or yellow seed kernels can be seen, which are quite thick and oily. It is odorless, tastes sweet, and slightly pungent.
【Identification】
The best quality seeds are large, substantial, full, and red in color, without mud or impurities. This product varies in size and color, including brown, red, and yellow. For example, Lai Fu Zi (Radish Seed) from Xianqiao has finer particles and comes in two colors, red and yellow. The red ones are called Red Lai Fu Zi (Radish Seed), and the yellow ones are called White Lai Fu Zi (Radish Seed).
