【Botanical Origin】

The dried, mature seeds of Strychnos nux-vomica L. of the Loganiaceae family. Also known as Fan Mu Bie.

【Characteristics】

The seeds are flattened and round, button-shaped, slightly curved, with a slightly raised edge, often one side is slightly concave, and the other side is slightly convex, 1~3㎝ in diameter, 3~6㎜ thick, the surface is grayish-brown, densely covered with prostrate silvery-gray fuzz, arranged radially, with a silky luster, hard in texture, difficult to break, the kernel is light yellowish-white, horn-like, and the cotyledons are oval. Odorless, extremely bitter taste. Extremely poisonous, use special caution when tasting.
