n 【Characteristics】n
Slightly oval, with one end pointed and the other blunt and rounded, 5-7㎜ long, and 3-5㎜ in diameter in the middle. The surface is yellowish-white or yellowish-brown, with longitudinal veins extending upwards from the base. The apex is sharp, the base is blunt and rounded, and there is a round hilum in the middle. The seed coat is thin and easily peeled off. The seed kernel has two cotyledons, is white, oily, slightly scented, and slightly bitter.
n 【Identification】n
The best quality is when the grains are uniform, full, with light yellow skin and white flesh, not broken, and without shell fragments. Inferior quality occurs when seeds are harvested too early or stored improperly, resulting in shriveled, broken, oily, or worm-eaten seeds. Smaller seeds are superior to larger seeds.
