【Formula Explanation】
According to “Yilin Gaicuo Pingzhu” (Commentary on Correcting the Errors in Medical Works): This formula draws inspiration from the principles of Wen Jing Tang (Warm the Menses Decoction) from “Jinkui Yaolue” and is modified by incorporating Shi Xiao San (Powder that Makes One Smile) to form Shao Fu Zhu Yu Tang. Within the formula, Fennel Fruit, Dried Ginger, and Cassia Bark warm the meridians, dispel cold, and promote circulation in the lower jiao; Corydalis (Yan Hu Suo) and Myrrh regulate Qi, dispel stasis, reduce swelling, and relieve pain; Cattail Pollen and Trogopterus Faeces invigorate blood, dispel stasis, resolve masses, and stop pain. Among these, fresh Cattail Pollen primarily invigorates blood and dispels stasis, while stir-fried Trogopterus Faeces emphasizes pain relief without harming stomach Qi; Angelica Sinensis Root and Szechuan Lovage Rhizome are Yang within Yin drugs and Qi drugs within blood, respectively. Combined with Red Peony Root, they invigorate blood, promote Qi circulation, remove stagnation, and regulate menstruation. The entire formula warms the meridians, dispels cold, invigorates blood, dispels stasis, reduces swelling, and stops pain.
