The dried feces of the orange-footed flying squirrel Trogopterus xanthipes Milne-Edwards and other closely related animals in the Pteromyidae family.

 [Characteristics]

(1) Lingzhi Block: Also known as Sugar Lingzhi. Mostly collected in spring, it is formed by the condensation of many fecal particles into irregular blocks of varying sizes. The surface is black-brown, yellow-brown, red-brown, or gray-brown, uneven, and some have an oily luster. The texture is relatively hard, can be broken, and the fecal particles are long oval cylinders. The surface is often cracked and fibrous. Light in weight, hard in texture, but easily broken, the fracture surface is uneven, and the shape of the fecal particles can be vaguely seen. Has a fishy and foul odor, and a bitter taste.
(2) Lingzhi Rice: Also known as San Lingzhi. Mostly collected in autumn, it is granular, long oval cylindrical, with blunt round ends, 5~15㎜ long, and 3~6㎜ in diameter. The surface is black-brown, relatively smooth or slightly rough, often with light-colored spots, and some have luster. Light and loose, easy to break, the fracture surface is yellow, yellow-green or black-brown, and fibrous. Has a weak odor, and a slightly bitter and alkaline taste.
