The middle layer of the stem, after removing the outer skin, of Phyllostachys nigra Munro var. henonis Stapf et Rendle (Henon Bamboo) and Bambusa oldhami Munro (Oldham’s Bamboo), both belonging to the Gramineae (Poaceae) family.

This product appears as thin strips or filaments, often tangled into clumps or resembling wood shavings, of varying lengths and about 0.5mm thick. The thin strips are about 5-7mm wide and have a yellow-green or pale yellow-white rough, fibrous surface. The shaved underside is smooth with straight, fine lines. It is light, strong, and resilient. It has a light, fragrant odor and a bland taste.nProcessed product is irregular, filamentous, or in thin strips, yellow-green in color, soft, flexible, and light, with a slight elasticity.
