【Botanical Origin】
Mature fruit of Cannabis sativa L. of the Cannabaceae family. The product in the Taiwan market is the seed kernel without the pericarp.
【Character】
It is flattened oval, 4~5㎜ long, 3~4㎜ in diameter, with reticulated texture on the surface, light-colored ridge lines on both sides, and a circular scar left after the fruit stalk falls off at the base. The odor is very strong, and the taste is initially bland, then slightly pungent and slightly numbing.
【Identification】
《Waitai Miyao》: “The best hemp seeds are those that do not show signs of spoilage even if they haven’t been stored in a cellar.” 《Puji Fang》: “The best hemp seeds are plump and fresh.” The best seeds are full, dry, free of branches and leaves, free of impurities, with white kernels, and free of insect damage. Inferior seeds are those that are not plump.
