The dried thallus of Eisenia bicyclis Setchell (of the Laminariaceae family), or Zustera marina L.

 【Appearance】

The dried thallus is slender and ribbon-like, with an entire margin, often wrinkled or curled, and often broken into pieces. It is about 2-8 cm in diameter, as thin as paper, brownish-green to brown on the surface, with white salt frost. It is brittle like paper, and the fractured surface has fine, hairy fibers. It has a faint odor and a salty taste.
