【Formula’s Explanation】
According to *Handian*: The combination of Danggui, Ligusticum Wallichii, Peony Root, etc., can stop diarrhea, treat anemia, promote blood circulation, and alleviate coldness syndrome. The combination of Poria, Atractylodes Macrocephala Rhizome, Alisma Rhizome, etc., can regulate urination, and treat dizziness, vertigo, and palpitation.
【Functions】
Nourishes blood and soothes the liver, invigorates blood and transforms stasis, strengthens the spleen and promotes water metabolism.
【Efficacy】
Abdominal pain during pregnancy, and various abdominal pains in women. For women during pregnancy or menstruation, with deficiency of both Liver and Spleen, characterized by cramping abdominal pain, persistent dull pain in the abdomen, irregular menstruation, dizziness and blurred vision, fatigue and lassitude, lower back pain and abdominal pain, red or white vaginal discharge, and various abdominal pains in women.
【Applicable Conditions】
(1) Fetal protection and safe delivery, correcting fetal position, various complications during pregnancy, toxemia of pregnancy and eclampsia, habitual miscarriage, functional uterine bleeding, irregular menstruation, dysmenorrhea (menstrual pain), post-menstrual abdominal pain, infertility, menopausal syndrome, cold sensation, abdominal pain, and other gynecological diseases. (2) Cerebral thrombosis, vertigo, hypertension, coronary atherosclerotic heart disease, chronic nephritis, chronic appendicitis, ureteral stones, prostatic hypertrophy, chloasma, and other diseases.
【Contraindications】
(1) This formula can be used as long as there is liver deficiency with blood stasis, and weak spleen with dampness retention. This formula differs in efficacy from Danggui Shaoyao Tang group formulas, and attention should be paid to this distinction. (2) This formula is a powder (San). If decocted with water, its volatile components will be lost. (3) This formula may sometimes hinder appetite. Therefore, it is not very suitable for individuals with poor appetite, nausea, or vomiting.

<Nourishes Blood>: Formula Name + <Tonifies Spleen, Promotes Water Metabolism, Invigorates Blood>: Fú Zhú Xiè Xiōng (茯朮瀉芎) → A phonetic mnemonic, “服生豬肉瀉得很凶” (fú shēng zhūròu xiè de hěn xiōng), which literally means “eating raw pork causes severe diarrhea,” uses sounds similar to the ingredients Poria (茯), Atractylodes Macrocephala (朮), Alisma (瀉), and Ligusticum Wallichii (芎).
