[Analysis of the Formula]
According to “Fang Ji Xue Tang” (Study of Formulas): Achyranthes bidentata directs blood downwards, tonifies the liver and kidney, and is the main ingredient. Hematite calms the liver and directs qi downwards. Magnesite, oyster shell, turtle plastron, and white peony root nourish yin, suppress yang, calm the liver, and extinguish wind, serving as secondary ingredients. Scrophularia ningpoensis and Asparagus cochinchinensis nourish yin and clear heat, strengthening water to nurture wood. The liver prefers to be free and unrestricted and dislikes depression. Heavy镇yang medications can affect its free nature, thus Artemisia capillaris, Toona sinensis, and raw malt clear liver heat, smooth the liver, and regulate qi, serving as adjuvant ingredients. Glycyrrhiza uralensis harmonizes the herbs. It is combined with raw malt to harmonize the stomach and middle jiao, and to prevent mineral medicines from affecting the stomach, harmonizing the properties of the herbs, serving as the guiding ingredient.
