【Origin】
Deer fetus is the dried fetus of the sika deer (梅花鹿Cervus nippon Temminck) or the red deer (Cervus elaphus L.) of the Cervidae family. Deer tendon refers to the tendons (ligaments) of the deer’s limbs. Deer kidney (deer penis) refers to the testicles and penis of the male reproductive organs of deer. Deer tail (Deer Bazi) is the tail of the deer.
【Characteristics】
Deer Fetus: Warms and tonifies the lower burner, strengthens the kidneys and regulates menstruation. It is also the main ingredient of “Deer Fetus Paste”. The shape of the genuine product is: the whole is flat and round, brownish-red, and wrapped in a layer of amniotic membrane. The size of the body depends on the length of pregnancy. If it is more mature, the head, tail, and limbs can be seen. The head is thicker, the mouth is pointed, the lower lip is longer, the limbs are longer, there are two hooves, the tail is short, some of the skin on the back has small spots, and the limbs and tail are curled inward. The texture is hard and the smell is slightly fishy.
Deer Tendon: It is in the shape of slender strips, 35~65cm long, 1.7~3.5cm thick, yellowish-brown, translucent, and shiny. The upper end has meat, and the lower end has two semi-circular, slightly narrow black hooves. Some have 4 small pieces of hoof bone, and the hoof is slightly covered with skin, and some have no skin; the skin has brown or light brown short hairs. The texture is tough, and the tear is fibrous, as fine as hair, and the smell is slightly fishy.
Deer Penis: Sika Deer Penis: The penis is 15~45cm long, 1~2cm in diameter, flat and round, brownish-red, with shallow longitudinal grooves. The glans penis is about 5cm long, exposed about 3cm, 0.9~1.1cm in diameter, wrinkled in the front, short and blunt. The hair on the foreskin is green-brown. There are 2 testicles, oval, about 4cm in the front and about 3cm in the back, totaling about 7cm in length, with moderate flesh and brownish-red in color. The total weight is 50~70g.
Deer Tail: The tail of the female red deer is relatively fat. The depilated shape is similar to a pig’s tongue, about 15cm long and about 5cm wide. The upper end is cut into a triangle, the lower end is blunt and round, and the middle is flat and round. The surface is purplish-black, smooth and shiny, and often has several longitudinal wrinkles. The cut surface of the tail vertebra is yellow, the skin and flesh are purplish-brown, and the smell is fishy and light. The shape of those with hair is slightly the same, but with brownish-yellow or gray-white tail hair. The tail of the male deer is thinner. The tail of the sika deer is thin, dry, and cone-shaped, and the quality is inferior.
