 【Botanical Origin】

It is the flower bud of Chimonanthus praecox (L.) Link. of the Calycanthaceae family.

 【Characteristics】

It is round, rectangular or obovate in shape, 1-1.5cm long and about 0.4-0.8cm wide. The perianth is stacked like a flower bud, brownish-yellow. The lower half is wrapped by multiple membranous scales, which are yellowish-brown, slightly triangular, and have villous hairs. It has a fragrant aroma, a slightly sweet taste, followed by bitterness, and a slight oily feeling.

 【Identification】

The best quality is when the flower core is yellow, complete, plump, and unopened. The best quality of this product is when the flower is large, bright yellow, and possesses “De Qi” (a sensation of energy).
