<Nourishing Blood>: Dang Gui

<Regulating Qi>: Qing Pi

<Tonifying Spleen and Middle Qi>: Bai Zhu, Gan Cao Shao

<Clearing Exterior with Acrid and Cool Herbs>: Chai Hu Shao

<Tonifying Qi>: Ren Shen

<Warming the Interior>: Xiang Fu Zi

<Invigorating Blood and Removing Stasis>: Chuan Xiong, Yu Jin, Xuan Hu Suo

【Functions】

Tonifies Qi and strengthens the spleen, regulates Qi and resolves dampness, eliminates scrofula and accumulated masses.

 【Efficacy】

Promotes digestion, stops diarrhea and vomiting, eliminates scrofula, jaundice, and bloating, relieves abdominal pain, benefits the spleen and strengthens the stomach. Primarily treats women’s emotional distress leading to spleen damage, resulting in poor appetite, alternating chills and fever like malaria, and facial discoloration (red or yellow). According to “Han Dian”: This formula is based on Si Jun Zi Tang, used to tonify the spleen (digestive system). It also incorporates digestive herbs to strengthen the stomach and promote diuresis. It is suitable for deficiency syndromes characterized by anemia, weak pulse and abdomen, loss of appetite, persistent watery diarrhea, and sometimes a tendency towards abdominal pain and vomiting. It can also be used for chronic gastroenteritis or intestinal tuberculosis in adults due to spleen and stomach weakness.

 【Indications】

Pediatric indigestion, chronic gastroenteritis, watery diarrhea, intestinal tuberculosis, and post-illness loss of appetite. It can strengthen the stomach and intestines.

 【Mnemonics】

Bai Ren Gan Gui, Qing Gong Suo Yu Cai Fu Yu (Bai Ren Gan Gui, Qing Xiong Suo Yu Chai Fu).
