【Formula Explanation】
《Medical Formulas》: Foot Taiyang and Hand Shaoyang medication. (1) When both the exterior and interior evils are excessive, treating the interior will leave the exterior unresolved, while releasing the exterior will worsen the interior. (2) Therefore, Huang Qin (Scutellaria Root) clears fire from the upper jiao. (3) Huang Lian (Coptis Rhizome) clears fire from the middle jiao. (4) Huang Bai (Phellodendron Bark) clears fire from the lower jiao. (5) Zhi Zi (Gardenia Fruit) unblocks and drains fire from all three jiaos. (6) Ma Huang (Ephedra) and Dan Dou Chi (Fermented Soybean) dispel exterior evil. (7) Shi Gao (Gypsum), being heavy, drains stomach fire and can relieve the muscles; it is also a medication that resolves both the exterior and interior simultaneously.
【Functions】
Releases the exterior and clears the interior, drains heat and resolves toxicity, induces sweating to release the exterior.
【Indications】
For injury by cold with cold and heat already intense, but exterior symptoms not resolved. High fever without sweating, heavy and stiff body, dry nose and mouth, irritability and insomnia, clouded spirit and delirium, or vomiting blood and skin eruptions, slippery and rapid pulse. 《Medical Formulas》: (1) Treats injury by cold with warm toxin, both exterior and interior with heat, wild shouting and wanting to run, irritability and thirst, red face and dry nose, eyes like fire, stiff body and inability to sweat. (2) Or after sweating or purgation, the disease is not resolved after passing through the meridian, intense heat in the three jiaos, delirium, nosebleed, yellowing of the body and eyes, large and rapid six pulses, and yang toxin causing skin eruptions.
【Applications】
Acute feverish diseases, hemorrhagic measles, rashes, nosebleeds, inflammatory bleeding from various feverish diseases.
