【Analysis of the Formula】
According to “Handian”: This is one of the empirical formulas from Yiguantang. This formula is a combination of Si Wu Tang and <a href='https://whatsintcm.com/dt_articles/Huang Lian Jie Du Tang‘>Coptis Detoxifying Decoction, which is equivalent to Wen Qing Yin with the addition of Platycodon Root, Mint Leaf, Burdock Seed, and Trichosanthes Fruit. Wen Qing Yin is a medicinal agent for clearing long-standing heat, moistening blood, and strengthening liver function. Platycodon Root clears stagnant heat from the head, eyes, throat, and chest. Burdock Seed moistens the lungs, clears heat, benefits the throat, and detoxifies skin rashes. Trichosanthes Fruit has the effects of generating fluids, cooling heat, moistening dryness, reducing swelling, and expelling pus.
【Functions】
Clears the liver and disperses wind, drains fire and detoxifies.
【Indications】
(1) Early stages of boils on the temple that have not yet formed, regardless of Yin/Yang or exterior/interior. Symptoms of anger and excessive liver fire, and boils on the flanks. (2) This formula is used as an improvement medicine for children with scrofulous constitution and for various diseases that occur in individuals with this constitution.
【Applications】
Eczema of the auricle, redness, swelling, and heat. Applied for improving scrofulous constitution in children, cervical lymphadenopathy, chronic tonsillitis, pharyngitis, skin diseases, disharmony after measles, infantile malnutrition, pleuritis, neurosis, and other diseases.
