【Formula Principles】

Szechuan Lovage Rhizome (Chuanxiong) activates qi within the blood, dispels wind from the blood, ascends to the head and eyes, and is a crucial herb for wind-cold headaches; Notopterygium Root (Qianghuo), Angelica Pubescens Root (Duhuo), Siler Root (Fangfeng), Asarum (Xixin), and Angelica Dahurica (Baizhi) are acrid-warm to disperse cold, dispel wind, and alleviate pain; Chrysanthemum Flower (Juhua) and Vitex Fruit (Manjingzi) are acrid-cool to dispel wind, clear heat, and alleviate pain; Chinese Angelica Root (Danggui) nourishes and harmonizes blood, invigorates blood, and alleviates pain; Atractylodes Rhizome (Cangzhu) disperses cold, transforms dampness, and alleviates pain; Scutellaria Root (Huangqin) clears heat and alleviates pain; Ophiopogon Tuber (Maidong) is combined to prevent the acrid-warm herbs from excessively damaging Yin, while Licorice Root (Gancao) harmonizes all ingredients. Together, all these herbs work to dispel wind and cold, clear heat, and alleviate pain.
