 【Botanical Origin】

The leaf of Panax ginseng C. A. Mey., belonging to the Araliaceae family.

 【Characteristics】

The dried leaf is a palmate compound leaf with a long petiole, usually with 5 leaflets, sometimes 3, ovate or obovate. The leaflets at the base of the compound leaf are 2-3cm long and 1-1.5cm wide; the leaflets at the upper part of the compound leaf are 4-15cm long and 2-4cm wide, with a cuneate base, acuminate apex, and finely serrated margins. It is papery in texture, yellowish-green in color, curled, and sometimes broken. It has a clear and fragrant odor and a slightly bitter and sweet taste. Ginseng leaves sold in the market are often leaves of Panax pseudo-ginseng Wall. var. Japonicus (C.A. Mey) Hoo & Tseng of the Araliaceae family, which are similar in shape to Ginseng leaves.
