<Tonify Spleen and Middle Qi>: Da Zao (Jujube), Gan Cao (Licorice Root)

<Exterior Releasing (Warm)>: Sheng Jiang (Fresh Ginger), Gui Zhi (Cinnamon Twig)

<Warm the Interior>: Fu Zi (Prepared Aconite Root)

【Analysis of the Formula】

From “Shan Bu” (Supplement and Simplification): This formula adds Fu Zi to Gui Zhi Tang to greatly tonify the Yang of the exterior. When the exterior Yang is dense, spontaneous sweating will stop and aversion to wind will cease. When sweating stops and fluids return, urination will be normal and the four limbs will be soft. This is different from excessive sweating due to transformation and disease. If after taking Gui Zhi Tang or Ma Huang Tang, there is profuse sweating leading to continuous leakage, it indicates Yang collapse externally, and it is urgent to rescue Yang, hence Gui Zhi Jia Fu Zi Tang is used.

 【Functions】

Tonify and stabilize Yang, regulate Ying and Wei.

 【Indications】

Tai Yang disease with excessive sweating, persistent sweating, aversion to wind, difficult urination, slight stiffness and difficulty in bending and straightening of the four limbs, as well as cold hernia with abdominal pain, cold hands and feet, and body pain with numbness. From “Shan Bu”: For Tai Yang disease after sweating, leading to continuous leakage, with aversion to wind, difficult urination, and slight stiffness and difficulty in bending and straightening of the four limbs, this formula is indicated.
