[Formula Interpretation]

Shan Bu: Ginseng, Astragalus, Atractylodes, Poria, and Licorice are used to tonify the Qi aspect; Angelica, Chuan Xiong, and Peony Root nourish the Blood aspect; Honeysuckle and Angelica Dahurica, and Forsythia are used to resolve toxins. Fu Fang: The formula uses Ginseng, White Atractylodes, Astragalus Root, Angelica Sinensis, White Peony Root, and Chuan Xiong to tonify Qi and Blood, promote granulation internally, Angelica Dahurica and Platycodon Root to reduce swelling and expel pus; Gleditsia Spine to expel toxins and pus, invigorate blood and reduce swelling; Honeysuckle to clear heat and resolve toxins; Poria Cocos to resolve dampness and strengthen the spleen; Magnolia Bark to purge fullness and stagnation. The combination of herbs treats both deficiency and excess, tonifying Qi and Blood, promoting internal healing of sores, clearing heat and resolving toxins, reducing swelling and expelling pus, leading to the reduction of swelling and the generation of new flesh to heal sores.
