【Botanical Origin】
The capitulum of the wild chrysanthemum Dendranthema indicum L. (Chrysanthemum indicum L.) of the Asteraceae family.
【Characteristics】
The dried capitulum is oblate-spherical, 0.5-1cm in diameter. The outer layer consists of 15-20 ray florets, female, light yellow in color, wrinkled and curled. The center is composed of tubular florets, bisexual, 3-4mm long, yellow, with 5 lobes at the apex. The ovary is brownish-yellow and lacks pappus. The base has an involucre composed of 20-25 bracts arranged in 4 overlapping layers. The bracts are ovate or lanceolate, withered yellow, and have membranous edges. All florets grow on a hemispherical receptacle. It tastes bitter, followed by a cool sensation.
