[Formula Actions]
《Shan Bu》: Baoyuan, refers to preserving the vital energy. This formula uses Astragalus to preserve all external Qi, Licorice to preserve all internal Qi, and Ginseng to preserve all upper, middle, lower, internal, and external Qi. When all Qi is regulated, the vital energy will be sufficient. However, this decoction is more than sufficient for tonifying the Qi of the postnatal water and grain, but insufficient for generating the congenital Qi of the gate of vitality. Add Cinnamon to stimulate the “moving Qi” within the kidney, thus making it complete. This formula is derived from Si Jun Zi Tang with modifications, adding Astragalus and Cinnamon to strongly tonify Qi and warm Yang, treating various symptoms of insufficient vital energy in children. … A small amount of Cinnamon is also added and adjusted according to the Qi of the four seasons. It is said that cinnamon can treat blood and promote the elimination of toxins, support Yang, and benefit Qi to nourish the entire body. When blood is internal, it is guided outward, so Qi is pushed from within; when blood disperses externally, it is guided back to the root, so Qi is protected from the outside. Without cinnamon to guide Ginseng and Astragalus, they cannot exert their full effect alone. Without the harmonizing effect of Licorice on Qi and blood, cinnamon cannot effectively regulate them. This is not something that those with limited knowledge and shallow insight can grasp.
