【Prescription Analysis】
“Fang Ji Xue Tang”: Xuan Shen nourishes Yin, clears heat, and facilitates bowel movement, serving as the principal herb. Mai Dong and Sheng Di Huang nourish Yin and generate fluids, serving as secondary herbs. The combination of principal and secondary herbs forms Zeng Ye Tang, which nourishes Yin, clears heat, and promotes bowel movement. Da Huang and Mang Xiao soften hardness, moisten dryness, purge heat, and facilitate bowel movement, serving as assistant herbs.
【Functions】
Nourishes Yin, generates fluids, promotes bowel movement, and purges heat.
【Indications】
Warm disease of the Yangming channel, where heat has accumulated and caused dryness, leading to constipation, dry mouth, and yellow tongue coating.
【Applications】
Constipation, anal fissure, acne, postpartum urinary retention, habitual abortion, and crush syndrome, etc.

【Modifications】
(1) If thirst is severe, add Hua Fen to generate Yin fluids. (2) If there is coma and delirium, add 牛黃丸/’>An Gong Niu Huang Wan to open the orifices and awaken the spirit.
