[Formula Explanation]

From “Han Dian”: This formula is created by combining “Ephedra Decoction with Atractylodes” and “Ephedra, Apricot Kernel, Licorice, Gypsum Decoction”, then removing Apricot Kernel, and adding Angelica Sinensis and Peony Root. “Ephedra Decoction with Atractylodes” treats the unsettled aspect of exterior water. Angelica Sinensis, Peony Root, and Coix seed, moisten the dryness of blood.

 [Functions]

Expels wind and resolves dampness, unblocks obstructions and relieves pain.

 [Indications]

Stroke. Bi syndrome in the hands and feet, dampness flowing into the joints, also treats pain, numbness, and stiffness in the hands and feet, difficulty in bending and straightening, and cold Bi syndrome with pain. From “Han Dian”: This formula is often used when joint wind-dampness enters the subacute and chronic stages. It is slightly stronger than “Ephedra Decoction with Atractylodes” or “Ephedra, Apricot Kernel, Coix Seed, Licorice Decoction” for more severe cases, especially when heat sensation and swelling do not subside and the condition is moving towards chronicity. It is suitable for subacute patients who can still attend outpatient consultations. It can be used for serous arthritis or tuberculous arthritis with effusion, swelling, and pain.
