【Formula Explanation】
From 《Annotations on the Treatise on the Spleen and Stomach》: Phellodendron bark and Anemarrhena rhizome primarily dry dampness and clear heat; Processed Rehmannia root and Angelica root assist by nourishing and harmonizing blood; Tangerine peel assists by regulating Qi; Sophora fruit guides the action to the intestines and cools blood.
【Functions】
Clears heat and dries dampness, nourishes blood and cools blood.
【Indications】
For women with Kidney deficiency, unable to control Minister Fire, leading to menorrhagia (profuse uterine bleeding). Occurring in late summer, when damp-heat is abundant, damp-heat flows downward, where external pathogenic Qi is strong and the body’s vital Qi is weak, causing severe dysentery with bloody stools.

Qing Kong Gao + (Phellodendron, Anemarrhena, Angelica, Rehmannia, Vitex, Ligusticum, Black Cohosh, Schizonepeta, Safflower, Asarum).
【Modifications】
For difficult and painful urination, fullness below the navel, or tenesmus with bowel movements, mix 5 fen (approx. 0.5g) each of fine Costus root and Betel nut powder, and take warm on an empty stomach or before meals.
