[Functions]

Harmonizes the muscle layer and exterior, dispels pathogens and stops itching.

 [Indications]

From the “Shan Bu”: For Taiyang disease that has lasted eight or nine days, presenting like malaria, with fever and chills, more heat than chills, no vomiting, clear and scanty urination, and occurring two to three times a day. If the pulse is slight and slow, it indicates recovery. If the pulse is slight and accompanied by chills, it indicates deficiency of both Yin and Yang, and one should not induce sweating, purging, or emesis further. If the face appears flushed as if with heat, the condition has not yet resolved, as the patient cannot achieve slight sweating and will experience itching. Therefore, Guizhi Mahuang Ge Ban Tang is indicated.
